It is with great pride that I want to invite you to take part in our first education dialogue of the year on the 9th of August from 17-18:30 @B2.08. Edu Dialogues are a way for students to voice their concerns to the department of Poltical Science department, and for the department to learn about student concerns. This dialogue will be about the role of AI in education, given recent changes on the UvA's stance on AI and the release of the UvA AI. This event has a forum style, where there will be 4 tables for students and staff to discuss and brainstorm on a different topic. The topics this year are: Objections to AI, Integration of AI into Learning Outcomes, Theses & AI, and Fraud. Some guest speakers include: Judith Huigens (Bachelor Director), Joost Berkhout (Master's Director), Saskia Bonjour (Chair of the Examinations Board), among others.The goal of this event is to have a dialogue between students and staff to better understand each others' points of view and brainstorm positive changes for the future. This event can be a valuable learning experience where staff can gain insight into students perspectives as to how they perceive AI, how they understand sustainability, privacy, and ethical concerns towards AI, how they think it should be integrated into courses and what they value out of that, what the role of AI is in the Thesis process, or what they perceive as AI fraud among other things.
