European Elections Debate

Every day we are getting closer to the elections of the European Parliament on the 23rd of May, so it’s time for a big EU event! Machiavelli, the study association for political science students, has teamed up with multiple political youth organizations of Amsterdam in organizing a debate for the European Parliamentary Elections.

On the evening of May 16th we welcome a variety speakers to tell us more about Europe. They are experts on the concerning subject and can enlighten us on the different points of view.

Later this evening, European Parliament candidates of Dutch political parties will join us in a debate. These candidates will introduce their opinion on set theses while the public has a say too: they can suggest additional theses and/or topics. This promises to be an interesting discussion about the main subject of the evening: the EU and its policies.

Below you find the names of candidates for the European Parliament who will join us this evening. Here you can also find their ranking on the voting list and the abbreviations for the political parties they represent.

- Raoul Bouke (#2) of D66
- Kim van Sparrentak (#7) of GL
- Efraïm Hart (#12) of CU
- Paul Tang (#3) of PvDA
- Laurens Dassen (#3) of Volt

We look forward to see you all on the 16th to discuss the important matter that is European politics. We might have different opinions, but eventually we all have the same goal: inspire people to think about Europe and activating everybody to vote on the 23rd of May!

See you at 19:30 in the Theatrehall of CREA Amsterdam
